QLM Studio production environment for FAQ page

QLM works with institutions, brands, NGOs, universities, media partners and organizations of public interest. This FAQ explains how we approach editorial strategy, production, media activation, collaboration, delivery and rights.

Working with QLM

Who is QLM for?

QLM works with organizations that need to make complex subjects understandable and engaging. This includes institutions, NGOs, foundations, banks, universities, public-interest programs, brands, media organizations and companies with educational, social or cultural messages to explain.

What makes QLM different from a production company?

QLM combines editorial thinking, media experience and audiovisual production. We do not only film or edit. We help define the angle, structure the story, adapt the format to the audience and produce content that can live on digital platforms.

What makes QLM different from a communication agency?

QLM is not built around advertising first. We are built around clarity, curiosity and useful content. We help partners communicate through explanation, storytelling and editorial value, not only through promotional messages.

Can QLM work with institutions and public-interest organizations?

Yes. QLM is particularly relevant for institutions and organizations that need to explain social, environmental, economic, educational or cultural topics to a wider public. Our work with partners such as WWF North Africa, DW Akademie and Oumouri El Maliya shows this capacity.

Offers and formats

What types of content can QLM produce?

QLM produces explainers, short videos, reels, podcasts, interviews, mini-documentaries, motion design, social media adaptations, educational carousels and multi-format editorial campaigns.

What is an explainer?

An explainer is a video designed to make a complex subject understandable. It can cover a social issue, a public-interest topic, a scientific idea, a financial concept, a brand territory or an institutional program. QLM explainers combine research, writing, visual storytelling, editing and sound.

Can QLM produce short social videos?

Yes. QLM produces short vertical formats for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook and YouTube Shorts. These formats can be standalone or derived from a larger content piece.

Can QLM produce podcasts?

Yes. QLM produces audio and audiovisual podcasts. We can support the editorial preparation, guest structure, filming, recording, editing, sound, visual setup and social media excerpts.

Can QLM create a full content program instead of one isolated video?

Yes. This is one of our strongest models. QLM can help design a recurring content system with a calendar, formats, editorial angles, production rhythm, publishing logic and reporting.

Editorial approach

How does QLM choose the right angle?

We start from the audience and the question they need answered. Instead of simply asking “what do we want to say?”, we ask “what does the audience need to understand, remember or discuss?” This helps us build clearer and more useful content.

How do you make complex subjects simple without oversimplifying them?

We simplify the path, not the substance. We clarify the structure, define the right level of detail, use examples and analogies, and build a narrative that makes the subject easier to follow while preserving accuracy.

Can partners validate the content?

Yes. For partner projects, QLM works with clear validation steps: brief, angle, script or structure, visual direction when needed, first version, revisions and final delivery. The goal is to protect both editorial clarity and partner requirements.

How do you handle sensitive topics?

We treat sensitive topics with additional care: source checking, balanced framing, clear wording, careful tone and validation with the partner when relevant. QLM’s experience with social, economic, environmental and institutional subjects helps us manage this type of work.

Need help scoping the right format?

Send a short brief and QLM will help identify the best editorial and production path.

Production process

What is the typical process?

A typical project follows six steps: brief, editorial framing, script or structure, production, post-production and delivery. For larger programs, we also add planning, recurring coordination and reporting.

How long does production take?

Timelines depend on the format and complexity. A short social video can be produced faster than a long explainer or documentary-style piece. After receiving the brief, QLM proposes a realistic timeline based on research, scripting, filming, editing, validation and delivery needs.

Can QLM handle filming, editing and motion design?

Yes. QLM Studio covers filming, editing, sound, motion design, subtitles and platform-specific adaptations. Depending on the project, we can combine filmed footage, interviews, archive material, animation, graphics and voice-over.

Can QLM work in different languages?

Yes. QLM can work in Arabic, Tunisian Arabic, French and English depending on the project, target audience and format. Subtitling and multilingual adaptations can also be included.

Media activation and distribution

Can content be published on QLM channels?

In some cases, yes. QLM can produce content for partner-owned channels, for QLM channels, or for a mixed distribution model. When content is published or promoted through QLM channels, the editorial fit, transparency and audience relevance must be clear.

What is the difference between production and activation?

Production covers the creation of the content. Activation covers how the content is distributed, promoted, adapted and circulated across platforms. Some projects only need production; others need both production and activation.

Can QLM help adapt one content piece into several formats?

Yes. A long video can become reels, shorts, quote cards, carousels, teasers, stories or podcast excerpts. QLM designs these adaptations so each format has a clear role instead of simply cutting the same content randomly.

Need help scoping the right format?

Send a short brief and QLM will help identify the best editorial and production path.

Budgets, rights and delivery

How does QLM estimate a project?

QLM estimates a project based on format, duration, complexity, research needs, filming requirements, motion design, number of deliverables, languages, revisions, activation and timeline.

Who owns the final content?

Ownership and usage rights depend on the project agreement. QLM can deliver content for partner use, publish content through QLM channels, or work within a co-branded model. Rights, usage scope and publication channels should be clarified before production starts.

What files does QLM deliver?

Depending on the project, QLM can deliver master files, social media exports, subtitles, thumbnails, audio versions, cutdowns, platform-specific versions and other agreed assets.

Can we request changes?

Yes. QLM projects usually include a defined number of revision rounds. Additional revisions can be discussed depending on the scope, timing and nature of the changes.

Starting a project

What should we include in a brief?

A useful brief should include the subject, objective, target audience, desired formats, platforms, timing, budget range, references, validation process and any technical or institutional constraints.

Can QLM help if the idea is not fully defined yet?

Yes. Many projects start with a topic or communication need rather than a fully defined format. QLM can help clarify the angle, format, narrative structure and production approach.

What is the best first step?

Send us a short brief or contact us to schedule an introductory conversation. We will help identify whether the need is best addressed through a video, podcast, short series, campaign, media activation or broader editorial program.

Have a subject people need to understand?

Tell us what you need to explain, who you want to reach and what kind of impact you are looking for. QLM will help turn it into a clear, useful and memorable content format.
